Sony motion controller is named the 'Move'

The peripheral formerly known as Arc gets an official name

Sony's SVP of Marketing and PlayStation Network manager Peter Dille took the stage at Sony's GDC press conference to introduce the world to Sony's new motion controller -- the Sony Move.

It's not the Arc, and it's not the Gem -- Sony's new 1:1 motion controller has officially been dubbed the Sony Move. Slated for a Fall release, the Sony Move will hit retailers in several different packages -- most notable among them, an affordable starter package that will find the Move bundled with the Sony Eye and an unnamed game for "under $100."

Sony is confident in the Move's success, Dille downplaying the threat of Nintendo's established motion controller by saying, "the migration from a Wii household to a PS3 household will be a natural one."

Also demoed was a variety of PlayStation 3 titles utilizing the newly unveiled Move motion controller, including Sports Champions, Move Party, and LittleBigPlanet Move.
