Optus Turbo charges new prepaid plans

Optus has released a series of new prepaid mobile phone plans called Turbo Max that are designed for heavy users. However, the included minutes can only be used to call mobiles, not landlines.
The $70 Optus Turbo Max offers 3000 minutes of calls per recharge to any Australian mobile and the $100 Turbo Max provides 3000 minutes, 3000 SMS messages and up to 2GB of data per recharge. Calls to fixed landlines in Australia are not included and are charged at the rate of 89 cents per minute with a 39 cent flagfall.
All credit expires after 30 days and both the credit and the bonus 3000 minutes and SMS don’t roll over, even if you recharge before the 30-day expiry.
"With the largest prepaid customer base in Australia, Optus knows how important real value is to prepaid customers," said Michael Smith, Managing Director of Optus. "We believe Turbo Max is one of the best prepaid offers in the Australian market."
Optus says that the 2GB of mobile data offered in the $100 Turbo Max offer is one of the largest data allowances available on any prepaid mobile plan and a reaction to the growing demand from customers to access the Internet on-the-go.
The Turbo Max plans are available to new and existing Optus customers. Optus recommends new customers connect to the Turbo Max plans by purchasing a $4 prepaid SIM pack and not a $29.95 prepaid SIM pack. The latter will still provide 3000 minutes but these minutes will expire after seven days rather than the 30 days Turbo Max time period.
Optus Turbo Max is the second major prepaid offer launched by Optus this year. In February the telco launched Turbo Text, a prepaid plan that delivers unlimited text messaging to any five mobiles on any network in Australia for a $30 recharge.
