nineMSN's FixPlay Web site allows viewers to watch Australian and international content such as Underbelly and Gossip Girl.

NineMSN has launched an online video on demand service dubbed FixPlay. The site features content from Channel 9 and the Nine Network's digital Go! channel, as well as from Warner Bros and the BBC.

The launch follows the expansion of the Seven and Ten networks' video on demand services, and Sony’s implementation of ABC iView. FixPlay is the latest addition to nineMSN’s ‘Fix’ franchise, which includes MusicFix, , CelebrityFix and TVFix.

The site launched today. It features Australian content such as Underbelly, McLeod's Daughters and Sea Patrol. It features BBC shows including Doctor Who, Little Britain, Spooks and Father Ted, along with a back catalogue of Channel Nine programs that can be viewed for up to 28 days after being broadcast on TV.

Because FixPlay is a joint venture between Microsoft and PBL Media — the two owners of nineMSN — the site uses the Silverlight platform, which is Microsoft’s rival to Adobe Flash. The site only allows streaming, so viewers can’t download shows — unlike ABC’s offerings which can be downloaded for later viewing.

Advertisements are displayed before, during and after shows played in FixPlay.
