Y2K suit against Intuit dismissed

A judge in California has dismissed a number of Year 2000-related lawsuits filed against Intuit over the last year, finding no damages had occurred to customers.
The lawsuits dismissed by the Santa Clara Superior Court had earlier been consolidated into one lawsuit. They claimed that the online banking features of Intuit's Quicken personal finance software would not properly handle dates after December 31, 1999.
The court last August had dismissed a similar class-action lawsuit filed against Intuit and the Supreme Court of New York dismissed three similar lawsuits on December 1 last year.
"This is a significant victory for Intuit and validates our long-standing commitment to customers, including our commitment to ensuring that all our Quicken online banking customers are Year 2000 ready," Allison Hubbard Colgin, a senior corporate counsel for Intuit, said in a statement. "While the plaintiffs are permitted to amend their suit on two causes, they cannot claim damages and we are confident that Intuit will continue to prevail."
