Standby for your shot at Halo: Reach pre-beta codes

Most people remember the advent of the Halo 3 multiplayer beta; the May 3 Halo: Reach beta is shaping up to be just as intense. Want to get in on it early? Follow GamePro on Twitter for your chance to win a Halo: Reach beta code that gets you access starting April 29.

The only other way to get into the normal Halo: Reach beta without an exclusive invite is through your copy of Halo 3: ODST. Assuming you don't have one, or if you want to turn your non-Halo friends into Reach converts by gifting them with beta access, or that you just plain what to get in early, follow GamePro on Twitter and we'll hook you up.

Here's the rundown on the major points we know about Reach so far:

  • It's a prequel to the main Halo games. You play an everyman-type rookie on Noble Team, a UNSC Spartan task force.
  • The planet Reach gets royally screwed just before the events of Halo: Combat evolved, however Bungie has said they're not overly concerned with continuity.
  • The single-use equipment system is gone in favor of reusable and persistent armor abilities you can swap out.
  • There will be multiplayer -- which is like saying the sky is blue.

See you May 3, if not April 29, Halo fans.
