Fox Sports beats Nine to first 3D sports broadcast

Fox Sports stole Channel Nine's thunder yesterday by announcing that it will broadcast the first 3D sporting event on Australian television next week.
The Socceroos' last home match before the 2010 FIFA World Cup — a friendly against New Zealand at the MCG — will be filmed using Sony 3D cameras and production technology. It was expected that Channel Nine's footage of the first State of Origin match on 26 May would be the first 3D sports broadcast in Australia; Fox has beaten the network by two days.
Channel Nine will still hold the honour of being the first broadcaster to display 3D television footage on Australian free-to-air television.

"This live and exclusive Socceroos 3D experience is FOX SPORTS next step in an on-going quest to take the sports broadcasting experience to exciting new levels for all Australian fans."
Coverage of the Socceroos’ farewell match against New Zealand will commence Monday 24 May on Fox Sports 3D (Channel 200) at 7.20pm AEST.
