Snap happy: Polaroid photography is back

The new Polaroid Two camera is set to hit Australia and NZ stores this month

Contrary to popular belief, the Polaroid is not dead — it’s making a comeback with a new Polaroid camera set to be launched in Australia.

The Summit Global Group has announced a partnership with Hagemeyer Brands Australia that has culminated in the launch of the new Polaroid Two Instant Digital Camera. The camera will hit Australian and New Zealand shores in May.

The Polaroid Two camera brings the brand into the modern photography era by incorporating both digital photography and instant photo printing: The 5-megapixel digital camera can prints images on the fly.

The Polaroid Two will retail for $269.95 and it prints 2x3 inch photos instantly using the ZINK Zero Ink Printing Technology. The images are printed on Polaroid ZINK Photo Paper, which has an adhesive backing.

Hagemeyer Photographics' John Rule said that recent success of the Polaroid brand in US and Europe means that they have high hopes for its reception Down Under. “We’re ready to take this iconic brand to the next level in this exciting chapter of Polaroid's history,” he said.

Polaroid ZINK Photo Paper is available in a single pack of 10 sheets for $6.95, or a pack of 30 sheets for $19.95.
