Jetstar trialling iPad for in-flight entertainment

Budget Australian airline Jetstar has announced it will be undertaking a trial of the iPad as an in-flight entertainment device for domestic flights. Claiming to be one of the first airlines in the world to be using Apple's iPad for entertainment, the trial will begin in late June on selected domestic routes across Australia and will cost customers an extra $10 per flight.
"We are really excited to commence the trial of the iPads, as we're always looking for ways to enhance our customer's Jetstar experience," said Jetstar CEO Bruce Buchanan. "Given the demand for the iPad so far, I anticipate it will have strong appeal amongst our passengers."
Jetstar will be using the iPads to provide in-flight entertainment and movies, TV programs, eBooks, music videos, games and CDs. Buchanan said the devices will be rolled out across Jetstar's entire domestic and international network "later in the year," provided the trial is successful.
"In addition to offering low fares, great customer service and more choice, it's important that we can provide the latest in innovative technology to entertain our customers on board. Based on demand for the iPads as part of the trial, we'll be looking to roll out the devices across our entire domestic and international network later in the year."
