KISS front man Gene Simmons to star in Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock

The sixth proper Guitar Hero game was officially announced by Activision today, with the company delivering the first trailer and the names of the first 24 songs to be included on the disc.

While Rock Band will seemingly add a new instrument for its next set, Guitar Hero is aiming to improve in a different area, promising a more story-focused music simulation game. Narrated by KISS front man Gene Simmons, Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock will include a quest mode that takes the player to real life music locales and fantastic hell-scapes, granting your on-screen rock icon magical powers for successfully matching notes. Due out for the PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360, the game will have a bundle that includes a new guitar controller that promises to match the story's unique art style.

The game's disc will ultimately house over 90 songs -- the most ever in a single Guitar Hero game -- and Activision has revealed the first two dozen. Here are 24 of the songs that will be available for the Warriors of Rock:
