A weird and wonderful Bluetooth gadget

When you work in the publishing business, you're often inundated with media releases. And when you work in tech publishing, they're often about hi-tech gear and gadgets.

Along with media releases touting the latest Sony Vaio notebook, plasma TV or ATI graphics card, you get people spruiking weird and wonderful iPad knock-offs, no-name laptops and Bluetooth banana phones. Wait — what?

Late last week our editorial director forwarded a marvellous press release from China's Shenzhen YDT Co., Ltd. promoting "phone or banana bluethooth [sic.] headset", which will "attract a lot of eyeballs". Yes, yes it will. Below we present the images accompanying the media release, displaying the banana Bluetooth headset in all its magnificence (along with a retro-styled Bluetooth handset). My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
