Hacked old Mac makes a useful tablet

Who needs an iPad? One blogger took his old MacBook and transformed it into a tablet Mac.

Who needs an iPad when you have a broken MacBook? Matt at Enigma Penguin decided that he would recycle his old laptop and turn it into a tablet.

Of course, the MacBook-tablet hybrid is nothing new. Axiotron sells the ModBook, a MacBook that has been transformed into a tablet. However, if you don’t want to spend your hard earned dollars when you have a lot of patience and a broken Apple laptop, Matt also blogged how he made his device.

Matt disassembled his MacBook, and slowly reassembled it,making a few changes along the way, such as replacing the regular screen with a touchscreen and installing various drivers to get everything to work. As you can see from the final video that Matt posted, the tablet runs applications correctly and works like a proper touchscreen device. It even makes use of Ink, OS X's built-in handwriting recognition feature.
