Foxtel announces prices for Xbox 360 video on demand

Foxtel and Microsoft have today announced more details of a new service that will provide Xbox 360 users with access to live and on-demand Foxtel TV via their consoles. The new service will be launched at the start of November.
The Foxtel on Xbox 360 service, which operates without a Foxtel set-top box, is accessed via Xbox Live and includes a package of live channels that are streamed through a user's Internet connection. The standard package, which includes channels such as FOX8, MTV, Nickelodeon, National Geographic Channel and CNN, is set to cost under $20 a month. The service is only available for Xbox Live Gold membership subscribers in Foxtel-serviced areas. Additional packages covering entertainment, sports and movies are also available for an extra $10 a month each.
Foxtel's CEO, Kim Williams, said that the company “is moving beyond the set-top-box and we are delighted to be joining forces with Microsoft on the Xbox platform to allow a new generation of customers — who traditionally may not have been able to get Foxtel.”
A Foxtel video-on-demand service will also be made available on Xbox 360 in November, allowing users to rent new release movies, archived movies and TV series. New releases will cost $5.95 each to rent, while library movies and TV Series episodes will cost $3.95 and $2.95 respectively.
Subscribers to the Foxtel live TV service can also access a selection of catch-up TV programming at no extra cost.
