The motherboard incorporates "ASUS Thermal Armor": a shell designed to offer the motherboard enhanced protection from heat as well as improve air flow. According to ASUS this is the first time a motherboard has incorporated thermal protection of this kind, with the company citing a temperature reduction of up 13 per cent thanks to Thermal Armor.

According to ASUS, "Military-standard certified TUF components and the motherboard itself are tested extensively during development to ensure they can withstand great stress and survive in very harsh, high-intensity environments." The company offers a five-year warranty for the motherboard.

The mother board includes four DDR3 DIMM slots for up to 32GB of RAM, two PCIe 2.0 x16 expansion card slots, four SATA 6Gbps connections, four SATA 3Gbps connections and eSATA and USB 3.0 support.
