Acer reports record revenue, profit in 2010

The Taiwanese PC maker cited a 9.7 per cent revenue increase over 2009

Acer, one of the world's top PC vendors, reported record high revenue of $NT629.7 billion ($US19.9 billion) in 2010 and profits in its core business, the company said on Wednesday.

The company's preliminary results for 2010 showed consolidated revenue up 9.7 per cent compared to the previous year and profit after tax of $NT15.1 billion, also a record high, the Taiwan-based maker of laptops and netbooks said.

However, poor weather and economic conditions in Europe held Acer's revenues below expectations in the fourth quarter of last year.

Most of Acer's revenue comes from Europe, where sovereign debt worries have pressured the euro.
