The ViewSonic ViewPad tablet will be sold in Bing Lee and Harris Technology stores around Australia.
Viewsonic, the Taiwan-based manufacturer of notebooks and monitors, has announced the launch partners for its ViewPad 7 and ViewPad 10 tablets. The $699 and $899 ViewPad 7 and ViewPad 10 are available now in national Australian electronics retailers Bing Lee and Harris Technology.
Harris Technology's Web site lists the 7in and 10in tablets for $684 and $762 respectively, but no Viewsonic products can be found yet on Bing Lee's online catalogue. The Viewsonic ViewPad tablets use a multitouch screen in tandem with Google's Android 2.2 operating system, but it is not known whether the device will be compatible with the upcoming Android 3.0 'Honeycomb', which is being specifically designed for tablet computing. The 10in ViewPad 10 model is able to dual-boot between Android 2.2 and Windows 7 Home Edition.
