Telstra says 70,000 customers remain without landline telephone services in the region struck by Cyclone Yasi.
The telco clarified the extent of service disruption, after earlier statements implied that services had been restored in the north Queensland regions affected by the cyclone.
A spokeswoman said an earlier fault in the Ingham area has been fixed, but many landline customers in the wider region affected remained without telephone service.
