Apple admitted on Friday it is looking into a Verizon 3G connectivity issue that some iPad 2 owners are reporting.

"We are aware that a small number of iPad 2 customers have experienced connectivity issues with the Verizon 3G network and we are investigating it," Apple says in a statement to All Things Digital.

The problem has popped up in the Apple support forums and apparently causes iPad 2 owners to restart their tablets to reconnect to 3G after turning it off.

Poster nixxon2000 started the conversation in Apple's forums on March 15 -- just four days after the device's release date -- saying, "When I try to connect to the cellular data it just says iPad or Searching in the top of the screen. ... If I do a hard reset I can get it to work."

As of Saturday, there were eight pages of discussion about the problem, which doesn't appear to effect AT&T models of the device.

If the issue is software-related, it could be short lived. AppleInsider points out a fix could be included in the soon-to-be released iOS 4.3.2. Boy Genius Report seems to think that update will arrive sometime in the next two weeks.

I have the same problems in Sydney Australia on Telstra 3G it really makes the ipad2 sub standard and your paying big bucks while loss of connectivity your loss time to spend your Telstra pre-paid usage. Not happy at all if I was aware of the problem I wouldn't of bought it. It has affected business for me as well as loss of tie very frustrating.
