New Panasonic TVs focus on 3D and IPTV video-on-demand

New Panasonic plasma and LED LCD TVs for 2011 have ABC iView, Yahoo PLUS7 and improved 3D

Panasonic has announced the Australian availability and pricing of its 2011 range of VIERA plasma and LED TVs. The new televisions have a focus on 3D picture performance and new IPTV features including direct streaming of ABC iView and Yahoo!7's PLUS7 catch-up digital TV services. Panasonic's new television range also includes its first 3D LED TV, the VIERA DT30.

Panasonic's VIERA CAST Internet services debuted on the company's Australian television range in 2009, with YouTube, Picasa and weather and stock applications built-in. 2010 Panasonic televisions added access to Facebook, Skype and Twitter. The new range of 2011 Panasonic televisions now feature access to ABC iView and Yahoo!7 PLUS7 video-on-demand libraries, as well as SHOUTcast Internet radio. Panasonic has 3D playback in 14 of its televisions.

Panasonic's new VIERA Connect Market, available on five of its premium plasma and LED TV ranges, is an open application platform that will let third party developers create apps to run on the VIERA televisions. Panasonic's rivals Samsung and LG also have applications libraries, although developers are unable to charge for applications. Both Samsung and LG have comprehensive video-on-demand and IPTV services including BigPond Movies on Demand.

According to the Panasonic's managing director Steve Rust, "3D continues to be a focus of Panasonic." Panasonic's new VIERA plasma TVs use a new 'crosstalk canceller' that allegedly reduces the instance of blurring on double edges of 3D content. All 3D TVs in Panasonic's 2011 line-up include 2D to 3D conversion, allowing digital TV and other content to be viewed in simulated 3D. Three different sizes of active shutter 3D glasses are now available from Samsung, and all glasses are rechargeable via USB.

Panasonic's VIERA plasma and LED TVs will be available from May onwards. For a full list of pricing and availability, read our Panasonic 2011 TV round-up.

I’d happily recommend this touchscreen laptop and Windows 10 as a great way to get serious work done at a desk or on the road.

Windows 10 / HP Spectre

Ultimately, I think the Windows 10 environment is excellent for me as it caters for so many different uses. The inclusion of the Xbox app is also great for when you need some downtime too!

Windows 10 / Lenovo Yoga

For me, the Xbox Play Anywhere is a great new feature as it allows you to play your current Xbox games with higher resolutions and better graphics without forking out extra cash for another copy. Although available titles are still scarce, but I’m sure it will grow in time.

For work use, Microsoft Word and Excel programs pre-installed on the device are adequate for preparing short documents.
