Apple to produce 58 million iPhones in Q3, Q4 2011

Analyst predicts two record-breaking quarters in a row

Apple will post two bumper quarters for iPhone production in the second half of 2011, according to FBR Capital Markets analyst Craig Berger.

Apple Insider reports that Berger expects iPhone production to get close to 58.2 million in the second half of 2011, up from 30.3 million in the second half of 2010.

In the third quarter, Berger expects Apple to make 15.2 million iPhone 4s and 6.8 million iPhone 5s. In the final quarter, though, the iPhone 5 will account for the lion's share, with 23 million units and iPhone 4 production dropping dramatically. Up until now, Apple has only once hit the 20 million iPhone shipments mark in a quarter, that being Q2 2011.

Berger expects total iPhone production to hit 102 million for the year, with Apple shipping some 95 million units.

Meanwhile, production of the iPad is set to exceed earlier expectations in the third quarter of 2011, with 17.5 million units produced rather than the 13.7 million of earlier estimates.

However, Q4 production will decline to 13.7 million, Berger said. But Apple is likely to shift the vast majority of these units - 17 million in Q3 and 13.5 million in Q4.

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

STYLISTIC Q702

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
