Is the update authentic?

I m doing it after I am done offering namaz… kept the firmware to download in the mean time..
my galaxy note is purchased in india.. it wont have any issues after the update right???

Worked a treat, couldn't believe how simple it was. Note is a GT-N7000, unlocked (and yes I'm in Oz), previous firmware ended in XLA6 or something like that, was running stock 2.3.6. Haven't put the phone through all of the paces yes but everything checks out ok so far. Thanks!

I thought the phone had to be rooted to use Odin?

the official update from samsung is around 380-390 mb, but the file here is around 680 mb ?????

I've just upgrading my galaxy note from 2.3.6 gb to 4.0.3 ics using this method and files, and while the installation process was so damn easy... my 3g data is no longer working at all, there is absolutely no data capability on my phone what so ever, there is the buttons to toggle is on and off and it "says" its on or off, but the symbol just never pops up at the top of my pnone...How do i downgrade back to 2.3.6 gb????

Is this official firmware. Will it void my warranty. I am in India.

This is not official update of ICS 4.0.. if you follow this step and get ICS on ur device you will lose your warranty... i suggest do not install it bcoz anyhow we will get a official update in few days... its already started rolling out...

Kids, after the firmware update, you have lost your network providers APN settings. These are VERY EASY to get back again. You can either google them or simply phone the provider's tech support.

just flashed mine (on three network in UK) No problems at all, no data lost (backup up anyway) and no need to modify any of my APN settings, one happy bunny. Thanks

Thank you for this information! I had been eargerly awaiting this update for my US GT-N7000. Using your instructions (and links) my update was as smooth as silk. Just completed it about half hour now but from what i can see, its bootiful! ;-) Works perfectly thus far. Data and WiFi purrrfect so far. This was the first update i attempted... i was using the stock 2.3.5 that it came with.

Interesting Badvock as I bought mine in England and tried to install a couple of times and can't do it. Keep getting message in Odin success 0 failure 1. I wonder why? Clove technogoly from whom I bought it says they haven't got it year either.

Haven't used this method yet but I have previously flashed my Note using Odin. For those having data issues, just Google your network providers APN information like the man said. There are even instructions on how to input the information into your phone.

if i go for this update... will i still be able to receive official ics and re-run the official update over this one?

It worked for me here in London, UK - as of 15 mins ago. Everything seems to be fine, so far... It's great to have the extra Premium Suite/ICS features to make an already brilliant phone even better. I love this thing!

This is official Samsung firmware, so yes, it's an authentic update.

You should not have to alter any APN settings once you've completed the update, everything worked fine on our end when we did it.

I followed and upgraded my Phone to your latest firmware. Just wondering why the file is som uch bigger that official file (~391 MB to 680 MB), it works and excited to use the face recogfnition.

Data usage control also is in place any it very good to use.

I'm just off with so much BATTERY CONSUMPTION. Old version 2.3.6 is better to mamange than ICS.

Any advise on this ?

hey # 26 Joel; try to start ur set without sd card, then turn it off then put sd card and start..... then unmount it and then shut it off then re insert the sd card....

basically it sweeps battery if u once remove sd card without unmounting it..... hope u understand what i am saying

Since the ICS install my speakerphone volume is very low. Whenever I use it the other party can barely hear me. I didn't have this issue running Gingerbread.

Attemp to upgrade my note via Kies and it failed less than a quarter way. PC started to have problem detecting the phone, usb flashing on and off. Tried emergency firmware recovery but didn't work because the phone is not detected. Phone is there for 10 seconds then disconnects. So I got a dud phone now, what can I do to get this fixed?

Hi Ross, I recetly updated to ics 4.0 through the above tutorial..is there any truth to the ruumour that this kernal xxlpy is corrupt. My carrier vodafone has been saying that it is corrupt..

Initial update try was a failure... Restarted the Odin program and on second try everything went well... No issue so far...

Currently configuring Apex launcher for my Note...

Let me clarify that i found the update super easy and have had no problems at all...However on my carriers forum it says that this kernal has been causing problems...

It's been a week with the ICS upgrade and the only negative was a huge battery drain, but I soon found the solution on the XDA forum and now everything is working brilliantly. The Nova/Apex launcher completes this upgrade for me. That said, I understand some people are experiencing significant problems with this upgrade, and I am baffled why the same software has a differential impact on the same phone. Perhaps I've been lucky, but luck should have nothing to do with it; a competent, well-managed software roll out by Samsung is what we need and deserve.

PS. For those of you with battery issues post ICS upgrade, you might want to try this - it worked for me (my phone is rooted):

Go to settings > sound and turn off touch sounds and screen lock sounds

These steps stop the kernel wakelock 100% problem:

1.turn on aeroplane mode
2.turn off device
3.take out battery for 10 seconds
4.turn on device
5.wait for everything to load
6.turn off aeroplane mode

Worked for me - thanks :-) UK Note on Orange network; first time got a fail but then switched my anti virus software off & tried again, it was all done in less than 10 minutes. Loving ICS so far.....

Finally been able to upgrade to ICS using Kies on my Mac. My phone kept on reporting that there was no update available, but when I connected my phone to my laptop, the update just came up. I didn't have to do anything with my phone. The transition was very straightforward.
I love the new S Note! I'm very satisfied with the update...I'm in Melbourne BTW.

Just Updated my N7000B on Telstra to this ICS Release, And had no issues at all. Some of the Telstra Bloatware apps don't work anymore as not an official Telstra Release, but there are ways around those, and haven't had any issues at all. Will run phone through its paces later. Thanks so so much as I was eagerly anticipating ICS for my Note =D.

Do not have Kies Running, i had it running and it failed, closed Kies, restarted Odin and it passed. Updating now. Kogan bought unlocked Galaxy note on virgin mobile network AU. Has upgraded to 4.0.3 now i will test Wi Fi and WAP etc. Seems ok so far

imtiaz, Once you update to ICS you can't downgrade again unless you root your note.

I have it installed in my Note here in Brasil. Followed the steps. Smooth and working !!
One observation is that the link for the Kies drivers are not landing on the correct page and as they land on the application I did downloaded it, connected my Note and performed a backup just in case. At the same time step 2 was solved.
Another one is that the file downloaded is not a zip file so there is no need to unzip it once you download, just place it on the same folder as Odin. Thanks !!!!!!

I successfully updated from Gingerbread to ICS. June came and there was an official OS in Saudi Arabia. Will it be possible to change it from XXLPY to JPLPD. Coz i noticed that my device is no longer recognized with KIES for firmware update.

I have upgraded twice using this guide. Everything goes fine, Odin reports success. Phone reboots, i get the NT-7000 screen, the sound, then it sits on the screen with Samsung glowing. Does anyone have any ideas what i've done wrong, or how i can proceed?

Ok, tried about 6 times, no luck. updated Kies, tried newer Odin version, took sd card out, still no luck. Put card back in so i could try something different, and it loaded up on its own! Hope this helps someone out there.

if u have emmc bug this software will brick your phone. It's not final version of ics for note. I bricked my phone cuz in this version emmc bug is not fixed.

I have install the ICS in my galaxy note, but it pop-up a message that mising of UI and coz the phone stuck and hang. Any solution for it. Kindly assist.

(Bought thru Kogan) Galaxy NOTE here in AUS with VIRGINMOBILE (OPTUS). Everything went according to Hoyle, the only thing not copied was the screen icons and bluetooth device pairing, but that took about 5 minutes to get back to where I was to start with. All of the APNs/network setting were fine.

Updated ICS as per the steps with just one difference. I took Update pack from Sammobile based on my region. Rest all same. Pretty good and neat and updated within 15 mins!! Now using ICS features in my Galaxy Note ! Need to explore more with it... :) Enjoy.. Tks

update works perfectly..just one thing..wen listening to music the music player stops my songs randomly and wen i try to click play i cant i woupd have to remove the headphone jack and put it back in then it plays but the max volume would be way lower than it was before..happened with my aux cable as well..wen i terminated the music player from the task manager and played music again it went back to perfect...any ideas how to fix this, its annoying wen music suddenly stops, thnx

I installed it without a problem. Initially had a few teething problems, especially with battery life. I just did a factory reset and now have 80% battery left after 1 day 2 hrs. How good is that

I bought my phone from Singapore and came back to India .. Tried all possible way and was not able to upgrade to ICS .

Finally this was the best solution to upgrade my phone ... super cool ... it just took 6 mins to complete the process ...
