Rare footage from iPhone production line revealed

A video of Apple's iPhone production line in a Chinese Foxconn factory has emerged

A rare glimpse into the iPhone production line at Apple's Foxconn factories in China has been released.

The video was filmed in Foxconn's Zhengzhou plant, where Ynet reports that over 70 per cent of Apple's iPhone are manufactured.

In the video, we see a Chinese reporter from iFeng and the CEO of Foxconn, Terry Gou, on a tour of the iPhone production line in the factory. The Next Web provides a translated summary of the video.

Gou uses a helicopter ride to demonstrate the scale of the factory, mentioning that it covers 5.6 square kilometres, which is the largest area living area in Zhengzhou for its 115,000 workers. Gou notes that the wasteland around the factory has been kept for future expansion of the plant.

Gou takes the reporter to the area of the factory that manufactures the iPhone 4S. Gou says that 'his' factory is the best in the world, and produces 10,000 motherboards a day. One section that makes parts is 148 meters long, says Gou.

Due to the secretive nature of Apple, it is rare to see any footage from the production line of its products.

Earlier this year, the Fair Labor Association investigated the Foxconn factories in China following accusations of employee misconduct. The investigation found "significant issues" according to the FLA.

Foxconn is reportedly planning to invest $210 million to build a new factory in China, which will house a new production line.

HP OfficeJet Pro 8730

A smarter way to print for busy small business owners, combining speedy printing with scanning and copying, making it easier to produce high quality documents and images at a touch of a button.

HP OfficeJet Pro 8730

I've had a multifunction printer in the office going on 10 years now. It was a neat bit of kit back in the day -- print, copy, scan, fax -- when printing over WiFi felt a bit like magic. It’s seen better days though and an upgrade’s well overdue. This HP OfficeJet Pro 8730 looks like it ticks all the same boxes: print, copy, scan, and fax. (Really? Does anyone fax anything any more? I guess it's good to know the facility’s there, just in case.) Printing over WiFi is more-or- less standard these days.

Windows 10 / HP Spectre x360

Ultimately, I think the Windows 10 environment is excellent for me as it caters for so many different uses. The inclusion of the Xbox app is also great for when you need some downtime too!

Windows 10 / Lenovo Yoga 910

For me, the Xbox Play Anywhere is a great new feature as it allows you to play your current Xbox games with higher resolutions and better graphics without forking out extra cash for another copy. Although available titles are still scarce, but I’m sure it will grow in time.
