Apple to demonstrate a new TV OS at WWDC

Reports suggest that Apple will be showing off a 'much more feature complete' TV

Apple is planning to show off a new operating system for the Apple TV at the Worldwide Developers Conference, which kicks off 11 June. This new OS will run on the current Apple TV, as well as the HDTV Apple is planning to launch.

That's according to Boy Genius Reports, which claims that a 'trusted source' has revealed that Apple will present the demo of a 'much more feature complete' OS for the TV.

The reports suggests that Apple will allow third-party manufacturers to create accessories for the new Apple TV operating system, and will allow users to control any of these connected components from the Apple remote. This will be through use of a new "control out" API, which could even allow control over program guides on set top boxes and other hardware components, says BGR.

This would mean that many cables connecting devices together could be eliminated, creating a whole new set up for the living room.

BGR's source expects that Apple won't be revealing the actual HDTV itself at WWDC, but yesterday, Apple CEO Tim Cook revealed that Apple has "some incredible things coming out," and spent sometime speaking about the television business."

Cook hinted that there may be more potential for the Apple TV. He also noted that, for many people, television is "an area in their life that they're not really pleased with" and suggested that Apple will "keep pulling this string and see where it takes us". And if they do keep pulling the strings, Apple will aim to make a "significant contribution far beyond what others have done in this area" said Cook.

He did, however, add that the company would "double down on secrecy on products," an announcement that came on the same day that supposed iPhone 5 components were leaked.

HP OfficeJet Pro 8730

I've had a multifunction printer in the office going on 10 years now. It was a neat bit of kit back in the day -- print, copy, scan, fax -- when printing over WiFi felt a bit like magic. It’s seen better days though and an upgrade’s well overdue. This HP OfficeJet Pro 8730 looks like it ticks all the same boxes: print, copy, scan, and fax. (Really? Does anyone fax anything any more? I guess it's good to know the facility’s there, just in case.) Printing over WiFi is more-or- less standard these days.

Windows 10 / HP Spectre x360

Ultimately, I think the Windows 10 environment is excellent for me as it caters for so many different uses. The inclusion of the Xbox app is also great for when you need some downtime too!

For me, the Xbox Play Anywhere is a great new feature as it allows you to play your current Xbox games with higher resolutions and better graphics without forking out extra cash for another copy. Although available titles are still scarce, but I’m sure it will grow in time.
