Sony Xperia tablet gets leaked

Images and specs of Sony's upcoming Xperia tablet appear

Sony's next generation Xperia tablet has been leaked online with images and specifications.

The Xperia tablet will succeed the Tablet S and the news comes a few weeks after PC Advisor exclusively revealed that Sony would launch a new tablet in time for Christmas. The leaked slides, courtesy of Mobiflip show a slimmed down and improved version of the Tablet S.

Sony's tablet will share the Xperia name with its smartphone line-up and it will still have the folded magazine type design of the Tablet S. However, it will be both thinner and lighter by 42 percent - 8.8mm at its thinnest. See also: Group test: What's the best tablet PC?

The aluminium case will be splash proof. The screen remains at 9.4in with a 1280 x 800 resolution and storage capacities of 16, 32 and 64GB. Its processor will be an nVidia Tegra 3 quad-core chip, an upgrade from the Tablet S' dual-core Tegra 2.

Other details revealed in the leak include Bluetooth 3.0, an SD card slot, stereo speakers, an 8Mp rear camera, a 1Mp front camera front page and a larger battery capacity. There will also be Wi-Fi and the option for 3G mobile connectivity.

Out of the box, the Xperia tablet will run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Accessories including a case with a keyboard and a docking station were also revealed in the leaked slides.
