Samsung starts Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean updates

Poland gets Android 4.1 Jelly Bean first with more to follow

Samsung has started rolling out Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for its Galaxy S3 smartphone.

Galaxy S III owners have been waiting a few months for it and the software is finally winging its way to handsets. The software update process has begun with Poland the lucky first recipients of the latest version of Android, according to Samsung.

There's no word on exact timing for the UK roll out - Samsung said the software it will hit Poland today 'before gradually being introduced to other markets'. "The availability and schedule of the software upgrade will vary by market and wireless carriers' requirements" said the firm.

The Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update will bring a number of improvements to the Galaxy S3. These include better performance, courtesy of Project Butter, a reorganised settings menu, two home screen modes, updated notifications bar, Google Now and a resizable Pop-up play screen.

Other Samsung devices due to get the Jelly Bean update soon include the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 & 10.1, Galaxy Note 10.1, Galaxy SII, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, Galaxy S Advance, Galaxy SII LTE, Galaxy Music, Galaxy Chat, Galaxy Ace 2, Galaxy Beam, Galaxy Ace Plus, Galaxy mini II and Galaxy S DUOS.

SamMobile said Samsung will roll out Jelly Bean to more countries this month, so be sure to regularly check for updates on your handset. According to reports, the Galaxy S3 LTE which supports 4G networks will come with Jelly Bean pre-loaded.

My S3 updated to Jellybean today in Australia, thought they were only being updated in Poland so far : )
