LG goes all-in-one with 3D Blu-ray PVRs

1TB and 500GB models can read and copy Blu-rays, digital TV

LG has brought out two new personal video recorders (PVRs) with 2D and 3D Blu-ray playback and recording, targeting buyers who want an all-in-one digital video player for their TVs.

The 1TB hard drive-toting BR629T and 500GB BR625T have twin internal high-definition digital TV tuners which can simultaneously record two channels, or watch one while recording another.

The players can also accept an external input from its composite A/V port, allowing a VHS player, camcorder or other legacy video device to be connected — and it's possible to record from this input, letting buyers digitise their existing video collections.

Blu-ray support for 2D and 3D disc playback, as well as various recordable formats and digital TV recording to disc, means the BR629T and BR625T can replace a Blu-ray player.

Both new LG PVRs are available now, with the 1TB model costing $849 and the 500GB model $649.
