New thinner and more power efficient iPad 5 could feature 'stunning' screen

Apple may use oxide-based LCD screens for a next generation iPad

Apple may use oxide-based LCD screens for a next generation iPad 5 with a "stunning" screen that is thinner and more power efficient.

LG is about to make a massive investment in the new technology and it's commitment to this oxide-based LCD manufacturing "points to rising orders from top device makers like Apple," notes a Korea Times report.

Oxide LCDs are thinner and more power efficient than current LCDs. According to the report, OLED screens also offer a "stunning upgrade in picture quality" compared to conventional LCDs.

If you are thinking you had heard about OLED screens before you probably have, but due the high costs and difficulty in mass production the adoption of the technology has been slow. However Samsung, LG and Sony all believe they will see a breakthrough on this front this year, according to the report.

Industry observers believe there is a possibility that Apple will apply these screens on its next version of the iPad, notes Patently Apple.

LG Display is to spend 3.8 trillion won ($3.6 billion, £2.3 billion) on new facilities for the production of the new displays. The company also plans to mass-produce bendable displays for use in mobile devices this year, according to the report.

HP OfficeJet Pro 8730

A smarter way to print for busy small business owners, combining speedy printing with scanning and copying, making it easier to produce high quality documents and images at a touch of a button.

HP OfficeJet Pro 8730

I've had a multifunction printer in the office going on 10 years now. It was a neat bit of kit back in the day -- print, copy, scan, fax -- when printing over WiFi felt a bit like magic. It’s seen better days though and an upgrade’s well overdue. This HP OfficeJet Pro 8730 looks like it ticks all the same boxes: print, copy, scan, and fax. (Really? Does anyone fax anything any more? I guess it's good to know the facility’s there, just in case.) Printing over WiFi is more-or- less standard these days.

Windows 10 / HP Spectre x360

Ultimately, I think the Windows 10 environment is excellent for me as it caters for so many different uses. The inclusion of the Xbox app is also great for when you need some downtime too!

Windows 10 / Lenovo Yoga 910

For me, the Xbox Play Anywhere is a great new feature as it allows you to play your current Xbox games with higher resolutions and better graphics without forking out extra cash for another copy. Although available titles are still scarce, but I’m sure it will grow in time.
