Google's much-anticipated, rarely-seen Nexus 4 smartphone is back in stock on the Google Play online store.

Review: Google Nexus 4
Harvey Norman grabs Nexus 4, will sell on Optus plans

Both the $349 8GB and $399 16GB versions of the Nexus 4 are available to purchase on the store, although Google has the smartphone ambiguously listed as "ships soon" — with a 2-3 week wait for devices to reach buyers' hands — rather than an outright confirmation of in-stock availability.

The Android 4.2-powered, 4.7-inch smartphone is also available now at Harvey Norman stores, attracting a $97 premium for the 16GB model. It is also available in-store on Optus post-paid mobile plans starting at $35 per month.

The Google Nexus 4 received praise when it was announced, and sold out within an hour when it was initially made available on Google's online store. The search engine giant, which is making a concerted push to promote its own-brand devices like the Nexus 10 and Nexus 7 tablets directly to customers, has struggled with stock levels constantly since the mid-November worldwide launch.

Stock of the Nexus 4 has seemingly recovered in the past week, with Google Play stores in the US, UK, and several other countries again offering the smartphone for sale. Local shipping for the Nexus 4 attracts a $19.99 flat fee.

If you manage to place an order for a new Nexus 4 device, please think about signing up - http://www.axiopo.com/google-play-performance/ the site should allow us to track the new orders, and provide a unified voice if there are problems.
