Grand Theft Auto V gets September 17 release date

Ambitious open world title gets delayed to later in the year

Rockstar Games has set the release of its highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto V for September 17.

The official release date, however, is approximately four months later than the original one planned.

In addressing the delay, a Rockstar spokesperson acknowledged it may come as a disappointment to many people but it will “be worth the extra time.”

“GTAV is a massively ambitious and complex game and it simply needs a little more polish to be of the standard we, and more importantly you, require,” the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson adds that the entire GTAV team is currently hard at work to make the game all it can be.

“We are doing all we can to help ensure it will meet if not exceed your expectations come September,” the spokeperson said.

Grand Theft Auto V is currently set for release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
