Google has just updated its Google Search Android app, which now includes a home screen widget for the Google Now service.

The home screen widget will automatically display local weather information, calendar appointments and any other relevant Google Now information. For users with Nexus devices, like the Galaxy Nexus and the latest Nexus 4, the Google Now widget can also be added as a lock screen widget.

The existence of a Google Now widget was leaked on the official Nexus support pages earlier this week. In addition to this feature, the Google Now function itself has been updated to show movie ratings from Rotten Tomatoes.

The Google Now widget can be added by updating the Google Search Android app through the Play Store.
