Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 goes on sale in UK for £339

Samsung hits price above iPad mini for Wi-Fi only Galaxy Note 8.0

Samsung has suddenly put its Galaxy Note 8.0 phablet on sale in the UK with a price tag of £339.

The tablet which has the ability to make phone calls and send text messages is available exclusively at the Samsung Experience Store at the Westfield Stratford shopping centre. Samsung said other channels will follow. See also: Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 hands-on review.

Samsung has launched the Galaxy Note 8.0 with no notice and is giving away £60 worth of content to go with it. The £339 price is for a 16GB Wi-Fi only model which is a fair amount more than the Apple iPad mini which starts at £269 for the equivalent model, let alone the £159 Google Nexus 7.

The Galaxy Note 8.0 comes bundled with a £20 Samsung Learning Hub voucher, a two month subscription to The Times, AVG Anti-Virus Pro, access to the Samsung Music Hub for free for one month, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2 and 50GB of Dropbox storage for two years.

Samsung introduced the Galaxy Note 8.0 at this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC). It comes with a 1.6GHz A9 quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM. Design-wise it looks like a super-sized version of the Galaxy S3.

Software includes QuickCommand, Multi-Window View and the phone and tablet hybrid, like other Galaxy Note devices, comes with an S Pen stylus with its own set of apps such as Paper Artist.

As well as retailers the Galaxy Note 8.0 will be available on a contract from some UK mobile networks in the near future. We'll bring you a full Galaxy Note 8.0 review as soon as we can.

I’d happily recommend this touchscreen laptop and Windows 10 as a great way to get serious work done at a desk or on the road.

Windows 10 / HP Spectre

Ultimately, I think the Windows 10 environment is excellent for me as it caters for so many different uses. The inclusion of the Xbox app is also great for when you need some downtime too!

Windows 10 / Lenovo Yoga

For me, the Xbox Play Anywhere is a great new feature as it allows you to play your current Xbox games with higher resolutions and better graphics without forking out extra cash for another copy. Although available titles are still scarce, but I’m sure it will grow in time.

For work use, Microsoft Word and Excel programs pre-installed on the device are adequate for preparing short documents.
