LG to launch Optimus G2 smartphone in Q3

LG Optimus G2 will take on iPhone and Galaxy S4

LG has confirmed that it will launch a follow-up smartphone to the Optimus G in the third quarter of this year.

The Korean smartphone maker has confirmed the unannounced Optimus G2 handset will launch globally in the third quarter. The smartphone will be LG's rival to the Samsung Galaxy S4 and possible the next generation of Apple's iPhone, naming the UK as a 'battleground' in the smartphone market. Won Kim, Head of Mobile Communication for Europe at LG told Trusted Reviews: "the LG Optimus G2 is coming in Q3, yes."

Although the firm has announced the upcoming device, it hasn't given any details away such as specifications. "We don't want to hide everything but similarly we don't want to promote everything about the G2 in advance" added Won Kim.

He explained that LG want to tease details to some extent but that it was too early to confirm any specifications. However, he did say the "G2 is going to be something different, something unique and we have needed to be very creative."

According to Engadget, the Optimus G2 will opt for a screen size around the 5in mark rather than the 5.5in found on the Optimus G Pro.

Although Kim mentioned the G2 several times, an official spokesperson said: "We have a naming strategy, we haven't made a final decision on naming".

In the meantime, LG is holding a 'share the genius' press event on 1 May in New York where it is expected to launch the US version of the Optimus G Pro.

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

STYLISTIC Q702

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
