The interface is twofold - individuals and family. To start, you set up a few individuals with photos and other multimedia attachments. You then enter biographical and other information (fields are included for source citation and repositories). The program is event based, so you can enter much more information than just birth, death and marriage.
Multiple marriages and divorces can be recorded, as well as other events as varied as military service or buying the first house. You can also create your own events. One thing you can't enter is same-sex relationships (although you can have de facto ones): the program will only give the opposite sex as possible partners.
Two good features are the maps and historical information. You can visually relate events in a person's life to the places where they occurred, and see the larger worldview as well. Relatively Yours II also works with the Internet, so you can download detailed district and street level maps for individuals.
The program can produce many types of reports, ranging from tasks to be finished for each person to complete ancestor or descendant family trees. Alternatively, you can create your own reports and send them to family members. With the help of a wizard, family circulars can be created in a few clicks.
