Palm Mobile Internet Kit

The package includes a limited Web Clipping application, the workhorse MultiMail Pro, and the very neat HandPhone SMS application. A stack of purpose-built mobile phone drivers completes the kit. You can find a list of supported phones at the Palm Web site.

Once you're online, which is painless with a Nokia 8210, you can immediately send and receive e-mail with MultiMail Pro.

The Web Clipping application is a mini Web-browser, with each instance locked in to a single information service. The ABC-NEWS portal offers headlines, with the ability to drill-down to detail. The Weather Channel, Wall Street Journal, and Prudential-Bache Mobile services keep you up to date on storms and stock prices, and MapQuest gives driving directions through Europe and US.

Disconnect from the Internet, and you can still communicate with HandPhone SMS. Beam SMS messages directly from your Palm to your phone, and they're on their way almost instantly.

Overall, Palm's Mobile Internet Kit offers a smooth way to stay connected. With the imminent arrival of the faster GPRS mobile data network, these will be cool tools indeed.
