The Korean giant has confirmed that the Galaxy S4 Zoom, a handset it describes as combining "the stylish heritage of Galaxy S4 devices with photographic capabilities of an optical zoom", will be sold through selected Samsung retail partners and at the Samsung Experience Stores in Melbourne and Sydney.

The Galaxy S4 Zoom will not be sold through traditional carriers like Telstra, Optus and Vodafone and will instead retail for $699 as an outright-only smartphone. It will be available from next week.

Samsung Australia's vice president of telecommunications, Tyler McGee, said the Galaxy S4 Zoom allows users to share high quality photos.

"We believe that the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom is the ultimate tool for people who want to use their smartphone to capture and share high quality images quickly and conveniently."

"We see the Galaxy S4 Zoom, with its 10x optical zoom and Android operating system, as a great way for people to share great high quality photos quickly and easily."

Officially announced back in June, the Galaxy S4 Zoom is best described as a version of the Galaxy S4 mini with a 10x optical zoom on the back.

The Galaxy S4 Zoom has a 16-megapixel CMOS image sensor, uses optical image stabilisation, and comes with a xenon flash rather than the standard LED flash used on most smartphone cameras.

Aside from its unique camera capabilities, the Galaxy S4 Zoom has a 4.3in qHD display with a resolution of 960x540, is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, has 1.5GB RAM and comes with 8GB of internal storage.

The storage is expandable thanks to the addition of a microSD slot, while there's also a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera.

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

STYLISTIC Q702

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
