Sony unveils 24.3MP mirrorless flagship

It has the "world's fastest autofocus", Sony claims.

Sony has just taken the wraps of its upcoming mirrorless camera, the α6000, and the company is claiming it has the “world’s fastest autofocus” in its class at 0.06 seconds.

The α6000 puts to work a 24.3MP Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor and a Bionz X processor to rapidly autofocus. Other noteworthy stats include burst shooting at 11 frames per second and a wide ISO range of ISO 100 - 25,600.

Sony has been upgrading the connectivity features across all of its products and the α6000 is no exception. It will use NFC technology to easily pair with Xperia smartphones and Wi-Fi for the transferring of photos. It remains unclear at this stage if this feature will support other NFC-capable Android smartphones.

The α6000 manages to offer plenty in terms of function and accessibility. There are two control dials for quick access and seven programmable buttons. It also has a 3in, 922k adjustable LCD screen, and an electronic 1,444k dot OLED viewfinder.

The new interchangeable camera will be coming to Australia in April. A single lens kit has a recommended retail price of $1199.

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

STYLISTIC Q702

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
