Yahoo's News Digest app for Android sends out a news report twice a day.

Yahoo's News Digest application is now available on Android, with an international and a Canadian edition also added.

The application, which every morning and night delivers a summarized version of the top news, premiered on iOS in January. The Android version has been customized for Google's operating system with a home screen widget that displays the most recent unread digest.

The app itself has a very clean user interface with a headline for each story on the digest's start screen. Users can also access old digests and see a clock that counts down to when the next one arrives from the menu. Each story is created from multiple sources and includes images, videos, maps, infographs, and Wikipedia excerpts.

Additionally, Yahoo has added a Canadian and an international edition to attract an even wider audience. The original app was available in U.S. and U.K. editions. The company is happy with how the app has performed since it launched, and said that 40 percent of users come back on a daily basis.

News Digest is compatible with Android 4.0 and later versions of the operating system, and can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. For now, the app is only available in English, but Yahoo promises to add versions in other languages soon.

For work use, Microsoft Word and Excel programs pre-installed on the device are adequate for preparing short documents.

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

STYLISTIC Q702

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
