LG tethers kids with KizON wearable

Location tracking, phone calls and resistance to water

LG has developed a wearable called KizON designed to track the location of children. A key feature is the wearable’s ability to initiate a phone call to a predetermined number — such as a parent — at the press of a button.

The KizON wearable features a speaker which is automatically enabled when a call from a preconfigured number goes unanswered for ten seconds. Preconfigured numbers can be changed by using a tablet or smartphone running Android 4.1 and above.

The wearable can be set up to feed information on a child’s whereabouts at specific times throughout the day to parents. Location information is ascertained in real-time by using Wi-Fi and GPS technologies.

LG claims its KizON will last for 36 hours before needing a charge. A notification prompting a charge is pushed to a parent’s smartphone when the battery drops below 25 per cent.

The wearable is water and stain resistant and comes in blue, pink and green. LG will unveil KizON officially in South Korea on 10 July.

LG KizON specifications as per official press release:
Memory: 64MB RAM / 125MB ROM
Battery: 400mAh
Size: 34.7 x 55.2 x 13.9mm
Color: Blue / Pink / Green
Network: 2G / 3G

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

STYLISTIC Q702

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
