Twitter taps ex-Googler Kordestani as executive chairman

Another piece falls into place for the restructured company

Omid Kordestani, who until recently was Google’s chief business officer, is now executive chairman of Twitter, filling the last vacant spot in the company's leadership.

"Omid is a proven and experienced leader who will directly help and coach me and our leadership, and help us recruit the best folks to Twitter," wrote Jack Dorsey, the Twitter cofounder who was recently appointed CEO, in a Wednesday morning tweet.

The news came just a day after the social media giant said it will cut about 8 percent of its global workforce.

Kordestani joined Google in 1999 as senior vice president of worldwide sales and business development and was its 11th employee, according to his LinkedIn page.

Previously, he spent four years at Netscape.

After leaving Google in 2009 for stints at Spotify and Vodafone, he returned to the search giant as chief business officer in August of last year. Roughly two months ago, he was moved into a senior advisor position for Google and its newly created Alphabet parent company.

"Excited to work with @jack, the Twitter Board, @adambain, @anthonynoto and the rest of the team to grow @twitter’s impact and business," Kordestani said in a tweet of his own. "It’s rare you get to be at a company with an amazing business that’s also transforming the world."

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
