Google Fit update adds digital watch face, new workout trainer

Instead of hiring a personal trainer to yell at you, Google Fit can push you along to perform more squats, sit-ups, and other acts of fitness.

Google Fit is getting an early start on all those New Year’s resolutions.

When you take the pledge to get healthier, Google’s fitness app will be ready with new workout challenges and nifty new watch face.

A new, digital watch face accompanies an analog version.

You get a digital, Google Fit-powered watch face that joins an existing traditional look. Each offer a color-coded circle to indicate how active you have been that day.

There’s also a new series of workout challenges. You can push yourself to do more push-ups, sit-ups, squats, or other painful activities. Each of the challenges put you on a 30-day course to ramp up the number of physical feats you can perform.

Your Android Wear watch can serve as your workout companion for the new Google Fit challenges.

For the latest goodies, you’ll need version 1.55 of Google Fit from the Play Store or APK Mirror.

Why this matters: Google Fit is slowly growing into its own hub for all your health and workout data. While these additions are nice, its main strength is that other developers like Under Armour, Nike, and Adidas have integrated their platforms into Fit, so all your data can be stored in one place.

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
