Canopus Imaginate software

Imaginate is a hardware-independent software package designed to allow high-level manipulation and animation of still images for video production. It comes on a single CD, is installed within minutes, and supports Windows Me, 2000 and XP Home and Professional.

Key features include animating high-resolution stills, scaling high-quality images, and zooming/rotating/skewing high-resolution stills in 3D. It is capable of sweeping cinematic effects as well as altering the perspective of images through the use of precise camera control.

Imaginate is versatile in its ability to use a variety of source formats including .jpg, .bmp, .tga, .psd, .jng, .png, .tif, .tiff, .iff, .lbm and .mng. It can then output the images in Microsoft AVI, Microsoft DV or Canopus DV (when used with existing Canopus hardware). Users can directly import the output files into popular nonlinear editing systems. The Imaginate Adobe Premiere plug-in offers alpha channel support and the ability to modify Imaginate project files directly from the timeline.

Standing alone, Imaginate incorporates its own timeline features together with a real time preview feature to enhance productivity.

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

STYLISTIC Q702

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
