Sydney retailer gets ram-raided

The Turramurra store of computer resellers, Computer Express, was ram-raided in an early morning robbery on Wednesday. The thieves escaped with a small volume of computer goods.

Using tactics usually reserved for breaking into more lucrative targets such as jewellers and banks, a white car smashed into the front of the Computer Express Store in Eastern Road, Turramurra, between 2am and 3am, according to NSW Police.

The ram-raid smashed most of the glass doors and wall at the front of the retailer, and also buckled and snapped the steel bars that reinforced the front of the shop.

Staff at the retailer said thieves only managed to steal around 10 items, mostly personal computers and LCD monitors. The business, which was insured, was able to continue trading today despite the damage to the front of the building.

Computer Express has five stores in New South Wales and employs 52 staff. The company also builds the Kenetic brand of personal computer at its Silverwater head office in central Sydney.

Staff at the reseller are hopeful that the thieves will be tracked down using footage from a nearby security video camera.

New South Wales Police investigations are continuing continue.
