Ulead PhotoImpact 6 (beta)

However, if you are more interested in working with images for the printed page, PhotoImpact 6 also includes some pretty powerful painting, cloning and retouching brushes, as well as filters, fills and special effects to help add some impact to ordinary photos.

Additional programs in the suite include Photo Album and GIF Animator. Photo Album provides a useful way to organise your files, with support for non-image files such as word documents, while GIF Animator provides easy-to-follow wizards showing you how to create scrolling banner text, transition effects and compelling animated buttons.

Once you have created the work, the Optimization Wizard streamlines your content for the Web. You can also merge animations and add video effects, with support for AVI and MOV files.

Ulead is targeting PhotoImpact 6 at the SOHO user wanting to create and work with content destined for the Web. However, it also offers users the means to create compelling content for print.

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
