The Internet is a great resource tool that contains oodles of information and can be used by people of all ages, genders and races. For the uninitiated, though, it can yield unexpected nasties and surprises. This book is about computer security and privacy, providing all the information needed in one easily-accessible place.

Even though it is targeted at teens and young adults, this book contains information suited to anyone just starting out with a computer, coupled with the Internet. Even older computer users may benefit from this title because of its wide range of topics, as different types of people have different types of security needs.
Topics such as spyware, viruses, software updates, firewalls, chat rooms and identity theft are covered. A special chapter is included for parents worried about their child's online activities. The chapter discusses online behaviour and privacy, and how not to be exploited. There are excellent tips and hints throughout the book such as 'Rule of thumb' or 'Caution', which are flagged in the normal text for special attention.
This book does a great job of explaining that it can be a dangerous World Wide Web out there, and offers excellent resources on how not to become a victim.
