The Superdome server, which is available now, is 64-bit ready and supports the HP-UX 11i operating system. Eventually, it will support HP-UX, Windows NT and Linux simultaneously, HP said. The Superdome can also be loaded with HP Surestore E Disk Array XP512, which was designed to eliminate planned downtime to back up or upgrade systems.

The server is available in three configurations, all of which include consulting, management, training and services to run the system. Information on pricing was not provided.

Superdome systems will be customised for individual HP clients, but using a common set of reference architectures will allow users to more quickly install CRM (customer relationship management), ERP (enterprise resource planning), electronic commerce and collaborative software, HP said.
