Microsoft buys MongoMusic

MongoMusic's search-and-recommendation engine technology will be integrated into the MSN network of Internet services and WindowsMedia.com. MongoMusic, provides search technology, digital music storage capabilities and a radio function enabling music fans to listen to music that aligns with their tastes.
Jeremy Hinman, president, Rolf Kaiser, vice president of development, and Frank Flannery, director of technology, founded MongoMusic in June 1999. The company, which has 65 employees, received $US6.3 million in venture seed money from Nokia Ventures and Sony Music Entertainment Inc.
Financial terms for the deal were not disclosed.
