Panasonic NV-EX3

The days of lugging around a heavy digital camcorder are all but over. Panasonic's latest digital video camera offering is a featherweight, weighing in at just 400g (without battery) and with dimensions of 49mm x 108mm x 86mm - small enough to fit snugly in your palm, and easily stowed in a jacket pocket. The upright-style camera has a 2.5in colour LCD display, plus jet zoom (which provides 0.5-second zoom when in record pause mode), as well as a quick-start operation - so you can start recording 3.5 seconds after switching on the camera. Other features include playback zoom, multi-screen mode (to view still pictures) and picture-in-picture mode (to view a small still within the moving picture) as well as nine other digital functions for editing your video on the fly.

For work use, Microsoft Word and Excel programs pre-installed on the device are adequate for preparing short documents.

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

STYLISTIC Q702

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
