Targeting small businesses, the vendors will offer two reduced-price GST-Office 2000 software bundles until the GST is introduced on July 1.

The Small Business Value Pack, which combines MYOB accounting software with MS Office 2000 Small Business Upgrade, costs $599. The Small Business Value Pack Plus combines MYOB Accounting Plus software with the same Microsoft product and sells for $749.

Managing director for Australian-owned MYOB, Rob Evers, said he expects the advent of the GST to encourage small businesses to upgrade their entire software systems. "Businesses coming to grips with the GST may find that it is a perfect opportunity to look more closely at the way they run their business and the tools they are using," he said.
