Elite bows out of Sol 6 merger

The companies announced this morning that the Elite board of directors has terminated the agreement in the light of advice from the US FTC's Bureau of Competition.

The FTC has advised Elite and Solution 6 that it will recommend that the Commission challenge the transaction, officials said.

"Although the parties disagree with the FTC's conclusions, they have decided not to prolong discussions further with the FTC in light of the Commission's continuing opposition to the transactions," officials said.

The decision comes as another blow to Solution 6, whose deals with Sausage Software and Telstra have taken similar turns.

"We are disappointed with the FTC's position and regret that the two companies were not able to join forces to bring continuing innovation to the professional services market," said Chris Tyler, Solution 6's CEO.
