Faster Smarter Microsoft Office System 2003 Edition

If you read our feature on Microsoft Office System 2003 in the November 2003 edition of PC World ( page 87) you’ll know that some of the Office suite has changed little. So why buy a book if there are no major changes in big ticket items like World and Excel, you ask? The changes to World and Excel may not be overwhelming, but new features in Outlook for managing your e-mail overload and additions like Infopath could come as a surprise to regular users of Outlook.
The book seems to focus on presenting information from the individual level, rather than addressing some of the workgroup enhancements such as SharePoint. That’s not to say it’s just for home users — there’s much detail on business tasks like creating presentations in PowerPoint, for instance.
If you’ve been using Office for some time and consider yourself fairly experienced with the applications, you can probably cope with many of the new features in this upgrade. That said, this $40 investment could help you get the most out of a $900 purchase (that’s the price for the Professional version).
