In pictures: Afro Samurai

Based on the animated series with the same name, the Afro Samurai video game follows the titular character in his travels. The character is voiced by none other than Samuel Jackson, while the game features a novel cel-shading style to make it appear ...

Geneva Sound System M

The Geneva Sound System M is an unimaginatively named hi-fi unit from Geneva Labs. It doesn’t look all that impressive, either: a squat black box with no screen to be seen. The Geneva comes to life, though, when it gets down to the business of playin...

Epson W6

With a 16:10 aspect ratio the Epson W6 is designed for displaying widescreen presentations from notebooks, which is great for the modern office. On top of this, it’s able to display 720p HD resolutions without stretching or scaling, making it a usefu...

TiVo to be sold in JB Hi-Fi

Hybrid Television Services, the company behind the Australian release of the TiVo media device, today announced a deal with popular electronics retailer JB Hi-Fi that will allow TiVo set-top boxes to be sold in its stores.

Sharp XL-UH25H

The XL-UH25H sits in the lower end of Sharp’s mini Hi-Fi line-up, with little separating it from more expensive models. It’s simple to set up and simple to use, but its more advanced features are just a gimmick. If you just want a user-friendly syste...

Viewsonic PJ506D

Viewsonic’s PJ506D sits in a crowded line-up, with no less than eight other portable projectors from the same company making choices difficult. It handles simple tasks with ease, but if you’re looking for high-resolution projection or an ultra-portab...

Nintendo unveils DSi

Nintendo’s newest handheld console release is the DSi, an upgrade to the hugely successful DS Lite, which appeared on the market in 2006. The DSi is slightly thinner than its predecessor, with a 3.25in screen compared to the DS Lite’s 3in display.

Dell M209X

Dell’s M209X barely weighs more than a kilogram and is well priced, and its technical specifications are more than adequate. A slightly cramped control interface doesn’t hold back the M209X from being a great budget portable data projector.

Parrot DS1120

Parrot is a French company with a track record of making quality stereo Bluetooth speaker systems. The formula hasn’t changed with the DS1120. These speakers offer a surprisingly expansive and room-filling sound that’s not short of bass. If you’re lu...

Sony STRDA2400ES

Sony’s line-up of A/V receivers has been bolstered by the STRDA2400ES, which offers 100 Watts of power through seven channels as well as a full range of video switching and up-scaling. It’ll do almost everything you could wish for, but might prove to...

Top 5 home theatre speaker systems

If you've got a modern big-screen TV or projector setup, chances are you're interested in getting the highest quality, most immersive cinema experience possible. Where many systems stumble, though, is with sound quality.

AKG K 530

AKG’s K 530 open headphones are great for listening to nuances within musical tracks. They’re supremely balanced, but still have the frequency response to punch out lively tracks when amplified.

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

STYLISTIC Q702

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
